Custom glass packaging

Many brands have been on our books for decades. In fact, our custom packaging has helped turn them into cult classics - thanks to a perfect blend of colour, shape, finish and extras.

Glass remains a true multi-talent with almost unlimited design potential, promoting the development of unique new brand images and innovative products.

Standard containers

These are freely available for every application. Produced cheaply and en masse, they represent an excellent and extremely economical solution.

Thanks to a wide range of different optional extras which can be combined at will, we're also able to transform standard shapes to reflect a unique brand image.

The possibilities are endless

Non-FoodWe all know there are some things we like to keep in glass bottles and jars
at home. In the process we benefit from the unique advantages of glass without really thinking about it. Indeed, there's hardly anything that can't be kept in glass. It's just something you do. Either for practical reasons or to satisfy an aesthetically emotional response.

Scope of design

Endless variety

  • gestaltungsmoeglichkeiten-3
  • gestaltungsmoeglichkeiten-4
  • gestaltungsmoeglichkeiten-5

Glass catches the eye. As packaging it stands out from the crowd, in bright, shining or even muted shades and a seemingly endless canon of shapes. Coordinated extras complete the appearance of perfection.

Glass feels good. Its rigid smooth surface is easy to grip and reveals the temperature of its contents. Additional reliefs and frosting transform the packaging into something that's tangibly unique.

Deli or discount: consumers expect high quality modern packaging. The appeal of glass stems from the unlimited potential for design and innovation it offers, while guaranteeing perfect product protection and functionality at the same time. From its stable base to its closure mechanism.

Brilliant variety

In addition to the traditional and timeless glass colours – clear, green, brown - a range of other shades are also possible: from ultra flint through nuances of green, brown and blue to darkest black, depending on the marketing aims in question.
Coloured glass provides the back-drop for unique brand design.

Straight, curved, slim-line, convex... the brand is characterised by its shape!
Glass can be moulded into any shape. This makes it ideal for the modern market, where products need to stand out from the crowd, regardless of their mass-produced or premium brand status.

Slim silhouettes, for instance, emphasise the on-going trend in organic and wellness products. Contours are softer. Kept slim and simple they present jam as a healthy natural product. These days the majority of wine and spirits bottles are also slimmer in shape. And even beer is drunk out of long-necked bottles.

This confirms the versatility of glass and our ability to create packaging that suits both the product and target group.

Tangibly different

There are many ways the surfaces of glass containers can be designed and altered, e.g. using

  • patterns
  • reliefs
  • or a combination of both.

Nothing makes more impact on a tangible level than the use of these options, since they literally create a feel to the product that sets it apart from the rest.

Extras: custom features for a unique appearance

As well as container shape and colour, various extras can have a huge impact on packaging design.

An extra is anything that is applied to the original unadorned glass container. In addition to the ever-popular paper and invisible labels, this also includes films and coatings, which can completely alter the appearance of the packaging, as well as direct printing - used for premium products to give a truly high quality impression.

The logo, brand name, product information and label design must be consistent with the packaging.
The versatility of glass therefore makes it the ideal packaging choice when looking to create a unique brand image.

Conventional labelling

Papier-EtiketteConventional wet-glued paper labels remain the most popular option thanks to the practically limitless range of shapes and colours available. They are also extremely economical, offering great performance and value for money at the same time.

red dot design award

In 2006 the Tesch vineyard in Langenlonsheim received a red dot »communication design« award for its Riesling range. At the heart of the concept was a 0.75 litre wine bottle made of black glass in the traditional Schlegel shape and coordinating label design.

Invisible labelling

  • no-label-look-1
  • no-label-look-2
  • no-label-look-3
  • no-label-look-4
  • no-label-look-5

Invisible labels are transparent printed adhesive labels that give the impression of the glass surface having been screen printed.

This apparently no-label option is far more flexible and more affordable than direct printing. Various printing techniques applied to the transparent film create high quality printed images with rich colour reproduction and excellent opacity. Up to three labels (front, back and neck labels) can be applied in-line and off-line at the factory – i.e. pre-labelled, ready for bottling.

Films

  • folie-1
  • folie-2
  • folie-3
  • folie-4
  • folie-5

Pre-labelling using polystyrene foam or high-gloss PET sleeves offers 360° labelling of glass containers, either as a half sleeve or as a full sleeve (up to the opening).

Film sleeves offer impact protection and thus increase container shatter resistance; they insulate and maintain a stable temperature. Brilliant colour reproduction is ensured by the printing technique selected.

Coatings

  • beschichtungen-1
  • beschichtungen-3
  • beschichtungen-4
  • beschichtungen-5
  • folie-5

Decorative coatings applied to the glass are used to create coloured and other surface effects, in various grades of matt or gloss for an entire range of shades, transparent or opaque.

Printing

BedruckungExtras such as screen, pad, or transfer printing are possible thanks to our collaboration with specialist glass finishing companies.

The result is an exclusive brand image that the consumer can feel.

The right mouth for the closure of your choice

  • verschluesse-1
  • verschluesse-2
  • verschluesse-3
  • beschichtungen-5
  • verschluesse-4

Depending on type, closures may offer consumers and bottling companies specific advantages and feature a range of functions. Prior to the product being opened for the first time, the closure serves as a safety seal. It also protects the contents, allowing for ease of opening and, in some cases, re-sealing. There's a wide range of alternatives to choose from: crown caps, rip caps, aluminium screw caps, corks, twist-off, bayonet and plastic screw caps, as well as laminated aluminium seals, etc.

Customers may specify freely from the above list according to type and the needs of the product. By providing the perfect container mouth, we ensure the closure selected matches the packaging to create the perfect combination.
